Ani Zakaryan, LCSW

FOUNDER OF UPLIFT PSYCHOTHERAPY

I am Ani. I bring over 10 years of experience working with teens and adults in residential treatment settings, outpatient private practice, prison, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization and detox as well as humans with severe and persistent mental illness. I gained my experience working with a diverse array of individuals. With a specialization in couples work and relationships, I utilize the Gottman Method in my work with couples as it is the most comprehensive, evidence-based, and effective therapy available for relationship improvement today. I value evidence based approaches to therapy and my work is guided by cultural humility. Having come from Armenia and being raised in a completely different culture, I am intimately familiar with and have an appreciation for the complex ways identity, privilege, and cultural systems impact the way that we move through the world and the expectations we place on ourselves and others.

I currently focus my clinical work with adults who are experiencing transition in their life, couples struggling to manage conflict and connect deeply with one another while navigating the stressors of childrearing/marriage after kids, infidelity and addiction. I also work with individuals who are experiencing faith crisis, and young adults processing their identity, spirituality, and family-of-origin experiences. Many of my clients are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, men and womens issues, sex/intimacy issues and traumatic life experiences that make it difficult to experience joy in life.

I ground myself in the reality of being, first and foremost, a human being beyond the formalities and titles. Through this I am able to hold space for my clients, as one human being to another. I aim to support you to embrace all the different parts of your complex and unique identity. I have strong commitment to continuing my own personal work in therapy to embrace my own parts as an Armenian American woman, professional, friend, partner and an immigrant. I consider it a privilege to partake in this journey of life and growth with my clients and I hope to walk alongside you as you embark on this journey.
